Listen to Me Talk!

Turn everyday sights and sounds into a conversation with your baby.

Start with a little play.

  1. Notice something nearby.

Choose something you can see or hear as you go about your day.

  2. Describe it out loud.

Tell your baby what you notice. You might describe a passing dog, its color, or the sound it makes.

  3. Let ordinary moments count.

Talk about what you are doing together. Small conversations help connect language with the world around your baby.

An everyday conversation

Your voice is the starting place.

An ordinary moment can be enough. Describe what you notice, then leave a little space for your baby’s sounds and expressions.

  • A sound outside the window
  • The light coming into the room
  • Something you are doing together
